How are the placements for MS students in IIT Madras?

They said that almost 70% of students in a particular MS batch sit for placements depending on the expected completion of their research work. Sometimes, 30-40% choose to pursue a PhD with almost 20% of that group converting to a direct PhD at IIT Madras!
