Joint PhD programs are doctoral degrees with more than one parent institution, meaning degrees that utilize multiple institutions. Interested students will be glad to know that IITM has several opportunities for joint PhD programs! After enrollment, you can apply to carry out a Joint PhD between IITM and a foreign university.
Universities: The options are numerous and remarkable, with IIT Madras having developed Joint PhD programs with 20 internationally reputed institutions. In the program, scholars are co-guided by faculty at two partner Universities and will be required to spend a minimum period at the partner University during which period financial support will be provided by the host. The final degree may be awarded as a single certificate or as two certificates that cross-reference. You can find the list of viable universities with which IITM collaborates here!
JDP in Biomedical Devices And Technology: IIT Madras also offers a Three Institute Joint Degree Program in Biomedical Devices and Technology with the Chitra Tirunal Institute For Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum, and the Christian Medical College, Vellore. The program is meant to strengthen research by bringing scholars who excel to institutions that excel in Technology, Biomedical Engineering, and Medical Sciences.
