The hostel accommodation at IIT Madras varies according to your year and program.
For first year undergraduates, accommodation is in double-occupancy hostel rooms. From your third year onwards, you may be allotted single, double, or triple rooms (depending on the hostel you're in).
PG students are given single rooms.
The rooms are comfortably big and have LAN ports for internet access. Each hostel wing has a common set of restrooms, which are shared by around 8 rooms which come equipped with washing machines, urinals and multiple toilet and bathing stalls. The hostels also usually have a common-use refrigerator, iron-box, and various other facilities.
Apart from these facilities, the hostels themselves also have various sports arenas including basketball, football, or badminton courts as well as numerous common rooms, music rooms and libraries.
Hostels at IITM offer comfort, camaraderie and convenience!
