What is the IITM Centre For Innovation? What does it do? Can students join?

The Centre For Innovation (CFI) is the largest student-run innovation lab in India. It is also the largest umbrella entity within IITM with many technological and innovative clubs falling under it. 

The clubs under CFI are:

  • 3-D Printing Club
  • Aero Club
  • Analytics Club
  • Computer Vision and Intelligence Group (CVIG)
  • Electronics Club
  • Horizon
  • i-Bot Club
  • iGEM
  • Product Design Club
  • Programming Club
  • Team Envisage (the Techno-Entertainment Club)
  • Team Sahaay
  • Webops and Blockchain Club

The CFI also houses some renowned competition teams that have bagged both national and international prizes:

  • Anveshak which builds rovers that scale harsh terrains.
  • Abhiyaan which builds Intelligent Autonomous Ground Vehicles.
  • Avishkar that's building a Hyperloop Pod to represent IIT Madras at SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition.
  • Raftar which is the Student Formula Racing Club of IIT Madras.
